Regular readers to my blog will know it’s not often you read a cookery of food post on here and that’s because I’m not the best cook in the world. Don’t get me wrong. I can cook! I make a great Lasagne, Chili, Spag Bol and Shepherds Pie but my repertoire can be a little stagnant.
We like trying a variety of foods and I am partial to Chinese, Indian and Mexican so when the lovely people at Old El Paso contacted me to see if we would like to try some of their range how could we resist!
We didn’t expect the big box of products that arrived though and it was great to see a range of their products that we hadn’t yet tried!
The first goodie we tried was the Extra Mild Chicken One Pan Rice Meal. We hadn’t tried this before so we were interested to see what it would be like. In the pack you get 200g of season rice, a creamy lime sauce and seasoning mix/ You then just need to add chicken, pepper, onion and sweetcorn.
You’ll see from the montage above it really is a one pan meal and simple to put together. I enjoyed this and would probably try it again. The one thing both my husband and I felt was that it was a little salty tasting but it didn’t put me off. There was certainly a clear plate at the end!
Next up was one of our favourites, the Fajitas, we love Old El Paso Fajita’s and regularly have them in our house. However it was the first time we had tried the Roasted Tomato & Pepper flavour and they were really, really tasty. probably hotter than what I am used to but certainly very tasty!
In the Fajita pack you get 8 soft salsa tortillas, 1 spice mix and one salsa. All you need to do is fry chicken, peppers and onions together, add the spice mix, warm the tortillas and get going. We like to have cheese and sour cream with ours too. Once again the plates were clean and every last bite devoured! A big thumbs up from us and simple and easy to do!
We have had the Original Beef Old El Paso Tacos before but not for some time and why oh why haven’t we? I really enjoyed them! Once again they were so easy and ready in only 20 minutes. In the pack you get 12 Taco Shells, 1 Spice Mix and 1 salsa. You simply brown mince in a frying pan, add the spice mix and once it’s bubbling away well, reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. While the mince is simmering simply warm the tacos (180 degrees for 3 minutes in the oven or 6 minutes in a microwave, then just fill them up and get stuck in! Yum, Yum, Yum! These will certainly become more regular on my shopping list! (Oh and yes there’s the cheese and sour cream again! I can’t help it!
These Old El Paso packs will definitely be on my future shopping lists I have really enjoyed them and guess what! There’s more!!! Yes we have more Old El Paso goodies to try, so watch this space! In the meantime I’d love to know what your favorite Old El Paso dish is?
