Weaning is a great stage in your baby’s development and it can be lots of fun watching them sample new foods, tastes and textures. I am currently weaning baby girl and all is going well so far. We started with a few basic purees, some which I made myself and some pre-made pouches and jars from some of my favourite baby food brands.
I think pre-made pouches and jars can be so convenient and if I am totally honest, probably offer a more diverse choice than what I would make myself at home. Brands such as Hipp Organic use only the finest organic ingredients and steam cook their products to lock in nutrients and flavour. There’s no hidden nasties and all you need to do is pop a pouch in your bag and go, they’re great for us busy mums who are conscious of offering our children a wholesome and balanced diet.
When the lovely people at Hipp Organic saw that I was weaning my baby girl they very kindly offered to send me a selection of stage 1 goodies to try. As a huge fan I naturally said yes straight away and we have had great fun trying out the range!
My little girl has literally devoured EVERYTHING that she has tried. There’s been nothing so far that she hasn’t liked!
We were sent a range of Hipp Organic baby food products from some basic first taste recipes, to some more adventurous combinations and this was great, as it meant I was able to continue to initially introduce a new food (or two) every couple of days. I originally planned to start weaning by slowly introducing a food at a time in order to ensure baby girl wasn’t allergic to anything or had any kind of reaction. In the first 2-3 weeks I introduced one food every 2-3 days but as the weeks have gone on and she has had no significant reactions I have been happy to try 2-3 new foods every day or two.
We started with the pouches of Peaches & Baby Rice and Bananas & Baby Rice, both are simple and tasty first taste options and idea for when you firs start weaning your little one (suitable from 4 months+)
We then moved on to a jar of Sweet Squash and Chicken (a delicious and fruity blend of carrots, rice, chicken, apricots and apples) and a pouch of Parsnip, Sweet Squash & Chicken Dinner (a tasty blend of parsnip, rice, chicken, squash and peas). Both are suitable from 4 months+ and baby girl loved her first tastes of chicken.
Baby girl also got chance to have her first sunday dinner, a jar of My First Sunday Dinner, and she devoured it! Guess you can’t beat a good old traditional sunday lunch! My First Sunday Dinner offers a delicious blend of carrots, potatoes, sweetcorn, leek and turkey and is suitable from 4 months+
After her traditional sunday lunch we then offered baby girl a little taste of Italy with a jar of Penne with Tomato & Courgette. This gave baby girl her first taste of pasta and courgette for the first time. She loved this and had no problems with it at all which is great as we eat lots of past in our house! It’s a fabulous blend of tomato, courgette’s, carrots, pasta, skimmed milk and herbs and spices and is suitable from 6 months+
We also tried a few of Hipp Organic’s 100% fruit pouches, the Peach, Apple, Blueberry & Raspberry and the Mango, Apple & Peach. Taking after her mummy and her sister I think it’s safe to say that baby girl has a sweet tooth and took no time at all in finishing both pouches!
We LOVED all the Hipp Organic baby food we were sent and we have tried a few more since too, all of which have gone down fantastically. We were also sent some of the Hipp Organic breakfast jars, which I used with my eldest) so once I start offering breakfast in the next week or two we will be sure to try these first too!
Hipp Organic not only offer great wholesome products but their website has a host of advice, support, discounts and competitions so why not hop across now.
