Happy World Book Day!

Happy World Book Day everyone!

I hope you are having an amazing day and enjoying your favourite books or taking part in the many events that are going on across the UK!

Hopefully your little one will have been lucky enough to have got a £1 World Book Day token. Lots of book publishers and booksellers, in partnership with schools all over the country, have been distributing more than 14 million £1 World Book Day book tokens to children throughout the UK. When you get your book token, all you need to do is to take it to your local bookshop and swap it for one of eight select World Book Day titles or, you can use your book token to get £1 off any full price book instead! A great excuse to add a new title to your collection!

world book dayToday, we will be reading one of our favourite books today “Dinosaur Roar” (Paul and Henrietta Stickland). It was a present for my daughter from a good friend of mine who’s kids also loved it and I have to say it’s been a firm favourite with us since the day my daughter opened it. It’s a fantastic tale of opposites with some fun illustrations. My daughter loves acting out the scenarios with me. I would definately recommend this book to mums and dads out there!

I am lucky enough to know a very talented lady called Liz Million who is an illustrator and author of children’s books. She has been involved in a number of titles and as it’s World Book Day I thought I should introduce you to her…

world book day

Liz illustrates and writes children’s books and visits schools, libraries and museums all over the world to talk about her work and encourage people to release their artistic side and draw!

Liz has illustrated and also written a range of books including “Elephant Rides Again“, “Noisy Neighbours” and “Be Quiet Belinda” to name but a few and is passionate about books and promoting reading and illustrating to children, so to me she’s a great ambassador for World Book Day.

Why not visit Liz’s website, pick up one of her books or download some of her illustrations and have your kids practice their creative side!
